JHAJJAR: A court here on Thursday issued notice to former cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and seven others accused in a case related to the poaching of blackbuck last year.

Chief Judicial Magistrate H S Dahiya issued notice to the accused, who are currently free on bail, to appear in the court on May 9.

The notice was issued in response to a petition filed the People for Animals, a society headed by former minister Maneka Gandhi.

The petition seeking cancellation of the bail of all the accused was filed on Tuesday. The petition had said the accused were granted bail despite the fact that the CJM's court had no jurisdiction to hear the case registered under the Wildlife Protection Act.

The petition said as the issue of jurisdiction had now been settled by the High Court and the case would be transferred to a special environment court at Faridabad, the bail granted last year should be treated as interim bail and be deemed to have been cancelled
