BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh special task force (STF) wildlife, on Wednesday arrested Pawan Singh – a most wanted for poaching of Asiatic Lions in Gir and Tigers in Panna.
He belongs to a nomadic traditional hunting community and was on hit list of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh for the last almost two decades.
Pawan was arrested on the basis of specific intelligence input along with a monitor lizard by SDO RiteshSirothia, said sources. It’s a schedule I species.
Pawan was booked by MP forest department in 1999 in connection with a tiger poaching case and later he was booked by Gujarat forest department in 2001 for poaching Gir lions and then in 2012 in Panna for attempt to poach a tiger.
He is being interrogated for more details.
