Directs four States to submit data within two weeks
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Wednesday directed Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan to submit data on the ambient air quality within two weeks.
A Bench headed by NGT acting chairperson Jawad Rahim directed the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to submit their recommendations after analysing the data.
‘Analyse data’
“We direct the CPCB and the DPCC to analyse the ambient air quality data of Delhi NCR and submit their conclusions coupled with their recommendations as regard the air quality,” said the Bench.
Earlier, the green panel had rapped the States of Punjab and Haryana for not filing proper action plans with regard to tackling the air pollution.
The Tribunal had also come down heavily on the Delhi government and other States for the degrading air quality and directed the States to file detailed action plans pertaining to the same.
The directions came while the Tribunal was hearing a plea where the petitioner had alleged that the action plans submitted by the States were merely an “eye-wash”.
