NAVI MUMBAI: The repair work of the common effluent treatment plant (CETP) of Taloja MIDC has begun on Friday. The work commenced after the dissolution of the CETP board. The workers have started cleaning the CETP.

A Taloja industrialist said, "Due to pressure from various quarters and also a case filed with National Green Tribunal (NGT), the CETP board started repairing ahead of dissolution. The work is estimated to cost around Rs 1.25 crore."

The CETP board of directors' meeting of November 23 had discussed the payment of outstanding bills of CETP contractors and supplier.

MIDC superintending engineer Rajesh Zanzad said, "No work has commenced from the MIDC end."

Arvind Mhatre, who has filed a petition against CETP, MIDC, MPCB and MoEF on water and air pollution caused by Taloja industrial units, said, "We understand that some work has began in the CETP."
