Awareness drive on air pollution effects in Nalgonda

Nalgonda: The SS School of Nalgonda organised Children’s Day in a unique way in Nalgonda on Tuesday. In association with IMA Neelagiri, the school management conducted an awareness programme on the ill effects of air pollution in the wake of New Delhi smog.

Addressing the children, IMA Neelagiri branch president Dr Vasantha Kumari said breathing fresh air is everyone's right and at the same time it is the duty of all to avoid all sorts of pollution to create a healthy environment around us.

Exemplifying the pitiable condition of the national capital due to air pollution, she advised the students to focus on plantation in and around their houses and wherever possible. The students were also advised to suggest their parents and others to opt public transportation instead of their own transport vehicles.

She suggested students to go for recyclable products and give up plastic bags, which are causing threat to environment and suggested the people to avoid use of coal and fire wood for cooking and advised to use environment friendly gas stoves.

Stating that usage of chemical floor and toilet cleaners are threat to health and environment, Vasantha Kumari suggested usage of hot water to clean floors and toilets. School correspondent Sathya Sri, IMA doctors Gowrisree, Anitha Rani, Anusha Murthy, school staff and students participated in the programme.
