BENGALURU, AUGUST 23:

Chikkaballapur MLA Dr Sudhakar distributed 2,000 clay Ganesha idols in his constituency and has pledged to use only eco-friendly puja items this festive season.

The MLA launched a distribution programme as traditionally, Ganesh idols, made of Plaster of Paris, are immersed in water during this festival, which polluted water.

Speaking on use only eco-friendly Ganesha idols, Dr Sudhakar said "Chikkaballapur is largely affected by the consequences of climate change, we have been reeling under severe drought over the last two years. I think it's high time we acknowledge the need for environment concern and install these thoughts amounts our people. This year, I have urged people to opt for eco-friendly clay Ganeshas instead of idols made of plaster of paris to save the environment."

As part of this campaign to protecting the environment, the MLA has also initiated a digital campaign, striving hard to create awareness among people to opt for clay idols. The hashtag used for this campaign is #PledgeForClayGanesha.
