BENGALURU: The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board has issued closure orders to M R Industries (Unit I & II), based at Kumbalgodu Industrial Area, on charges of causing air pollution. Mismanagement of used oil by the concern is suspected to be the cause for pollution.
According to an official release, it was decided to issue closure directions to the industry, till they comply with the provisions of the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016, Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution)Act, 1981.
A few industries identified to be burning their waste illegally and mismanaging used oil were indentified and called for a personal hearing on April 5. They were asked to take steps to dispose the waste properly and action initiated against M R Industries, the release said.
