Will reduce city's air pollution by 27-30%, says Lucknow Metro MD

LUCKNOW: On the occasion of Earth Day, Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) MD Kumar Keshav asked his team of engineers to make efforts to keep the environment clean. He also said that after Lucknow Metro becomes operational, it would reduce the air pollution level of city by almost 27 to 30% in coming days.

Lucknow has constantly been reporting rise in air pollution levels according to the UP Pollution Control Board's reports. Keshav was inspecting the elevated metro corridor along priority section with his team comprising director works and infrastructure, Daljeet Singh ad other officials on April 21, 2017. He inspected the ramp up section at Charbagh which continued till Hazratganj via Hussainganj.

Starting his inspection from Charbagh, Keshav inspected the ramp up section and the work which is being carried out for underground construction. He also enquired about the progress of work from the assigned officials and the associated company- Gulermak'.

The team continued its inspection after Charbagh by walking on the road. Daljeet Singh inspected every element which is involved in the construction of Lucknow Metro and asked the company-. Gulermak to maintain the position and alignment of the road barriers and the diversions which are made at KKC and Charbagh.

He also visited the tunnel section near KKC region from where the proposed underground tunnel has to pass and continued his inspection to all the construction places by walking on the road till Hussainganj. Here he specially focused on the cleanness of the road, alignment of the road barriers and working of the metro marshals who are deployed to help and guide commuters to maintain smooth traffic flow during construction.

On the other side, Keshav also inspected the ongoing work of Hussainganj and Secretariat metro station where he was accompanied by his team. At last, they continued their inspection till Hazratganj which is the last underground metro station of the North South corridor. This corridor is 23 km long from Munshipulia to Amausi Airport.
