Poaching racket busted: Two held

Hyderabad: Forest officials busted a poaching racket and seized fresh black buck meat, body parts and skin from the Jahanuma Modern Colony in Falaknuma here on Tuesday. Two persons were arrested by the police in connection with the racket.

Based on a tip-off, a team led by Hyderabad District Forest Officer Vinod Kumar conducted raids on the residence of a habitual poacher Syed Jaffer, who was storing the meat and skins of wild animals in huge quantities. According to the official, Jaffer was selling the wild animals’ meat secretly for the past several years. They seized huge quantity of meat, skins, two carcasses of black bucks, six wild hares, six partridges and 26 quails.

Officials said Rajesh with the help of his associates used to hunt animals in the Dandupally forest range in Medak district and supply meat and skin to Jaffer here. “A case has been booked against Jaffer and Rajesh and police have arrested them,” the official added.
