LUCKNOW: The effect of smog is apparent in city's parks with morning and evening walkers giving their health routine a skip. People said pollution was causing breathing problems.

For the second day in a row, morning and evening walkers were forced to stay at home due to smog. In a reality check by TOI as to whether morning and evening walkers were going to parks, it was found that on Monday there were very few people in city's famous Lohia Park and Janeshwar Mishra Park. On Sunday around 6am, only two couples were seen walking in Lohia Park and four people were seen in Janeshwar Mishra Park. On Monday evening, Lohia Park didn't have a single evening walker while Janeshwar Mishra Park was empty by 6pm. AnushreeChaturvedi, another resident of Gomitnagar, said, "For two days, I have been suffering from throat infection and coughing so I have avoided going outside. Then I read in the newspaper that it's pollution which seems like fog."

"I used to go outside with my child for morning walks but the weather was not good on Monday so I avoided it," said Kavita Jawarani, a Gomtinagar resident.

"I suffer from asthma and for two days, I cannot even stand in my balcony because of the polluted air. I avoid evening walk too," said Payal Singh, another evening walker.

"I used to walk for 30 minutes daily but I have had eye infection for two days which my doctor has attributed to air pollution," said Jeffery Borges, an evening walker residing near Hazratganj.
