Pollution experts believe that Delhi can learn a lot from the measures taken to control air pollution in Paris, the French capital. Delhi's steps could not lead to satisfactory results owing to its being a poorly managed show whereas the results are different in the case of Paris. According to reports, the authorities in Paris have introduced the odd-even road rationing scheme by making the use of public transport free of charge. They have taken some other measures too to control air pollution as the French city faces the worst pollution in 10 years. The reports said the authorities in Paris introduced on Tuesday the odd-even road rationing scheme besides some other measures to bring down the air pollution level, according to reports received here. They have ensured that only about 50 percent of the cars in that city were on the roads now. The Paris authorities have declared that public transport could be used free of cost to encourage people to keep their personal vehicles parked at their places of residence, the reports added. The experiment in Paris may be used in Lyon also as it is one of the most polluted cities in France. The French authorities have ordered that daily commuters should resort to car sharing and those using their personal vehicles should keep their speed to a low limit. The reports said France's air quality monitoring agency has blamed the anti-cyclonic conditions for a higher level of concentration of pollutants in the atmosphere. UNI SM SNU 1553
