Pollution Control Board starts monitoring of pollution

INDORE: Ahead of Diwali, the regional Pollution Control Board (PCB) has started monitoring air and noise pollution levels in the city. The drive started this week will extend till October 30.

The department will take air samples from different parts of the city and also measure noise levels with the help of noise meters. The aim of the drive is to compare the air and noise pollution before and on the day of the festival.

Chief chemist and lab head at regional PCB Dr DK Waghela said, "Special drive has been undertaken to monitor the levels of noise and air pollution during the festival time. Specific areas have been located from where air and noise samples will be collected. This is in addition to the regular monitoring."

The samples will be taken from MIG, Vijay Nagar, Kothari market and Sanwer Road among other places of the city. Important parameters such as PM 2.5, PM 10, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide will be checked.
