NEW DELHI: Delhi Pollution Control Committee will monitor air quality during the second phase of odd and even road rationing scheme at 119 locations in and around the national capital "to understand the impact", an official statement from the Delhi government on Friday evening said. The monitoring will be in special reference to PM 2.5 and PM 10 pollutants, it added. Impact of odd and even on air pollution's first phase has been of much dispute with contesting claims from the AAP government and independent studies. This time around, the government has stated its intention to make more extensive measurements of air quality status to prove the positive impact on air quality. The statement further informed that, "Monitoring of Ambient Air is planned at 74 locations with the help of Light Scattering Based Technology. These locations will be monitored regularly excluding Sundays almost on the same time and locations." This monitoring is to include "random sampling for short durations" and will be targeted to know the trend of Air quality.

The 74 locations are on seven borders of Delhi and one sample will be taken inside Delhi (1-2 km), while the second sample will be on the border and a third sample will be 1-2 kms inside the neighbouring states. Another kind of monitoring will be in 20 residential locations of the national capital.
