Motor cycle rally organised as part of wildlife week

With the aim to create awareness and sensitize the public, department of environment, forest and climate change along with Nagaland Motorcycle Club organized a motor rally as part of the wildlife week (October 2-8) observance. More than 20 members of Nagaland motor cycle club took part in the rally. The bikers began its rally from forest office complex Dimapur and culminated at world war cemetery Kohima.

Nagaland principal chief conservator of forest and head of forest force I. Ponger Jamir IFS appreciated the motor bikers for creating awareness to conserve wildlife during the occasion of wildlife week.

He said climate change has become a reality and has been effecting the environment in some or the other way.

Stating that the celebration of Wildlife week is inter-related with all the bio-diversity and climate, he said that in such consolidated forms, the issues has to be observed in holistic manner. He also emphasized on the protection and conservation of Amur Falcon migration in Nagaland. He further added that media are the ambassador for disseminating the awareness on such conservation and protection of Wildlife and Bio-diversity.

Conservator of Forest, Santhil Kumar said the bike riding has been arranged from Dimapur to Kohima to earmark the celebration of Wildlife Week by the department in all the districts. He said that the rally organized by the Kohima and Dimapur district was to create the awareness and also felt that the bike riders would be acting as an ambassador to spread out the message to protect and conserve the wildlife among the villages and wherever they go in days to come.

The bikers and forest department officials also halted at Pherima village and interacted with village council members, GBs and students.
