Online air pollution real-time monitor soon

GHAZIABAD: Work on installing an online automatic ambient air quality monitoring system in the city will begin shortly. According to district pollution boardofficials, Sahibabad industrial area has been chosen as the site for installing the system.

After Lucknow and Kanpur, Ghaziabad is the third district in the state where the automatic ambient air quality monitoring system will be installed and it will help analyse air pollution data on a real-time basis.

District pollution board chief Parashnath said, "The site for the online Automatic Ambient Air Quality Monitoring system will be Sahibabad's site 4 industrial area and the installation work will begin in a fortnight."

He said the cost of installing the system was been estimated to about Rs 2 crore. "The cost is being jointly borne by the central pollution control board and UP pollution control board," Parashnath said.

A life-size monitor will be put up near the BHEL office in Sahibabad, which will constantly display various parameters and will be connected to the CPCB office and district pollution board office simultaneously. The system can measure real-time pollution levels on 12 parameters on a real-time basis unlike now.
