Jaipur: An eleven-year-old tigress was found dead in the peripheral area of Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve in the wee hours on Saturday.

According to the forest officials this could be a natural death as the body of the tigress, identified as T-11 was found intact and no body parts were missing.

"The tigress's body was found by a forest guard in Naipur which is a very remote area towards river Banas. This area falls in the periphery of the reserve and is not frequented by tourists. It's a commendable effort by the staff on tracking as the body was just a day or two old and had not been eaten by maggots. The tigress had always stayed here and in her territory gave three litters, in all seven cubs. This couldn't be a case of poaching or poisoning," said Y K Sahu, field director, Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve. T-11 was the daughter T-9 and had given birth to seven cubs.

Unlike other tigers, she had never been captured by shutterbugs as she lived in the non-tourist zone, said forest officials ."The autopsy has been performed and we are expecting the report in a day or two," said Sahu..Jaipur: An eleven year old tigress was found dead in the peripheral area of the Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve in the wee hours on Saturday by the forest guard. "The postmortem has been done and we will get the report in a day or two," said Sahu.
