Allahabad: On the eve of World Environment Day, children made clay models of endangered species of animals such as rhinoceros, elephants, crocodiles, alligators and other wild animals at Allahabad Museum on Saturday.
The children prepared the models in line with this year's Environment Day theme of 'Go Wild for Life' to make the visitors aware about the need to preserve wild animals.
The move was aimed to make museum a centre for learning children of various age group. The children were trained on making the clay models in a workshop. They were told about smuggling of objects made of bones, ivory, animal hides and skin.
The models of endangered species also included tiger, olive turtle and star tortoise, which have been listed as endangered and are on the verge of extinction.
"Through these children, the museum wants to enlighten the visitors about the concern of wildlife, poaching of animal for commercial and illegal trafficking and how to stop it," Allahabad Museum director Rajesh Purohit said.
