LUDHIANA: Environment day was celebrated on May 5 at IMA house, Ludhiana. Dr Rakesh Kumar Gupta, assistant director family welfare and health services Chandigarh Punjab elaborated on effects of nicotine on health and environment. He cautioned that tobacco chewing is the major cause of oral cancer.
Dr. P S Jassal general honorary secretary IMA Ludhiana spoke on air pollution, water pollution and soil pollution. He explained the importance of global warming which is responsible for change in the weather pattern. It is responsible for causing floods such as Kashmir flood in 2014 and recent flood in France and West Germany. The theme of this year environment day is protection of wild animals.
Dr Kulwant Singh President IMA Ludhiana welcomed the guests. Tree plantation was done. Dr Manoj Kumar Sobti, Dr Avinash Jindal, Dr Mohan Pal Singh Sadana, Dr Arun Gupta, Dr Saroj Aggarwal, Dr Manjit Singh & Dr S P Singh were also present.
