Migratory birds arrive in Bargarh

BARGARH:MIGRATORY birds in large numbers have arrived in Karlajori and Antapali in Bhatli block of Bargarh district. The avian guests include Storks, Pelicans, Herons and Egrets, among other species.

Every year in May, these birds arrive in the villages for nesting and breeding and fly out in November.

Villagers in Karlajori said there are at least 25 huge trees of Neem, Tamarind, Banyan and Mango and on each of them, hundreds of birds can be seen every day.

There is a ban on poaching the birds in both the villages and locals believe it would bring bad luck and drought. Two years back, an eco-development council was constituted in the village and it has been playing an important role in protecting these birds.
