Two arrested for hunting spotted deer in Pernambut Range

Vellore: Two youngsters from the narikurva tribe were arrested for poaching spotted deer for meat and skin in Pallalakuppam reserve forest (Extension) in Pernambut Range on Monday.

According to the forest department officials, M Sathish,19, and A Madhavan,20, residents of AgaramcheriNarikurva colony, were caught selling the meat near the Agaramcheri reserve forest on Monday afternoon.

On inquiry, the duo confessed to the crime. They told the officials that they hunted a spotted deer in Pernambut Range on Sunday. The officials have also confiscated the skin of the dead animal.

The duo were apprehended on charges of hunting, trespassing into forest area and possessing an illegal country-made gun.
