Chandrapur: A full grown leopard was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Moharli (buffer) range of TadobaAndhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) on Monday evening. Sources informed that all the body parts of the beast are intact, but officials have not ruled out the possibility of poaching.

Post mortem will be carried out at Rambagh nursery on Tuesday. Sources claimed that the local beat guard found the leopard's carcass during his routine patrolling on the road leading to Irai dam near the gate of compartment number 197.

Deputy director, TATR (buffer) GP Narwane along with honorary wildlife warden, BanduDhotre, assistant conservator of forest (ACF) RR Kulkarni, range forest officer (RFO) SacinSinde, veterinary wildlife officer, TATR, RavikantKhobragade visited the spot and inspected the scene.

Investigators have found signs suggesting that the body of leopard was brought from some other place and dumped on the spot. The fact that the body was two three days old and the type of injury marks on it, too, suggested foul play, sources added.
