MorariBapu roped in to save birds

AHMEDABAD: After saving the whale sharks, noted kathakarMorariBapu will now be roped in for saving the winged visitors who visit the Nalsarovar in large number from Siberia and other places. The forest department has pressed the panic button as on an average 1464 nets have been recovered between October 15 and January 31.

These nets have been used for poaching of winged visitors by the villagers. R G Prajapati the Deputy Conservator of Forest Nalsarovar said the forest department has so far since April received over 1864 nets of which 400 were received between April and October, while the remaining were received during the winters.

The ManavSeva Education and Charitable Trust has sought permission not only to create awareness among the local villagers and motivate them not to get involved in poaching has also decided to clear up the entire coast of plastic and other waste.

The Managing Trustee of the Trust ManubhaiBarot said apart from creating awareness among the local people, we have also decided to rope in MorariBapu in saving this birds. Bapu's contribution to the save the wildlife is tremendous. MorariBapu's appeal to save whale shark has proved to be fruitful and hence we have decided to include him for saving the birds. Bapu will address the locals in Nalsarovar on Saturday.

The trust and its volunteers will also clean up the tourist area and the banks of Nalsarovar. Earlier a drive was taken up before two years and two truckloads of garbage was removed from the lake.
