NAVI MUMBAI: City based activists have urged CM DevendraFadnavis to consider implementing odd-even traffic formula of Delhi in Navi Mumbai, Thane and Mumbai, to curb the rising air pollution. "I recently wrote to the CM on behalf of various activists and citizens to have the odd-even formula in our city as well, as that is the best way to keep a check on the vehicular density on the roads and control air pollution," said activist Ravi Srivastava.

He added that the activists have also asked the state government to control the production of diesel vehicles, as they significantly contribute to air pollution levels and instead give discounts on CNG conversions of vehicles.

Another activist, S Mohan, said that in Taloja, a group of entrepreneurs and businessmen are already carpooling to reduce their carbon footprints.

RTI activist Anarjit Chauhan said, "The government should also take a look at the pollution caused due to the increasing number of two-wheelers on the road. People must understand that it is better to use public transport instead of personal vehicles."

Srivastava said that people can use the various carpooling apps to catch a ride, which is convenient and saves fuel.
