The march was flagged off by climate policy analyst Sankar Sharma of Karnataka at Vazhachal. V.S. Vijayan, a member of the Western Ghats Ecology Expert Panel, presided. Around 1,500 people representing around 70 organisations took part in the first ever such march to save the tropical forests of the Western Ghats, said A. Latha of the forum. Various organisations, and educational institutions, participated.

The procession ended near Athirappilly waterfall.
