THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The flying squad of the Forest Department on Wednesday arrested one more person in connection with the elephant poaching case. The accused has been identified as Vidyasagar, a native of Balaramapuram.

The Forest Department officials said on Wednesday that Vidyasagar was a close aide of prime accused Eagle Rajan, who was arrested last week. “He gave all the assistance to Rajan in making the idols of Hindu gods out of ivory. The grilling is going on. The arrest was made based on the statements taken from the two accused who were held on Tuesday,” the officials said. On Tuesday, the squad had arrested two persons, Hemant Kumar of Ulloor and Vikraman, a native of Poojappura. They are accused of making ivory idols for Delhi-based businessman Umesh Aggarwal, who was recently arrested.
