New leaders invested with responsibilities; schools go green

At New Horizon Public School, Indiranagar, Bengaluru, each of the captains marched up to the stage to receive their sashes and badges, while their proud parents looked on. School principal Sandhya Raman said that a true leader is strong but not rude, bold but not a bully, kind but not weak. She told them to feel proud but remain humble as leaders.

LEADERS TAKE OATH

This year, the Sudarshan Vidya Mandir Group of Institutions, Bengaluru, conducted the investiture ceremonies of State, ICSE and CBSE streams on its CBSE school campus in Bannerghatta. Newly-elected office-bearers took oath to keep the institution’s flag flying high. Captains spoke about their duties. Director and principal Hemaa Narayan was present.

AGENDA PRESENTED

Fr. Lawrence D’Souza, secretary, Catholic Education Society, Udupi, inducted the new members of school parliament of St. Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady, Udupi, at the investiture ceremony. He stressed the need for social, emotional and spiritual development along with academics. Student pupil leader Shaun Auton Mendonca presented the plans and agenda for the new academic year. School principal Myrtle Lewis was present.

CELEBRATIONS

The primary section students of Venkat International Public School, Rajajinagar, Bengaluru, celebrated World Environment Day with zeal and enthusiasm. A song in Kannada highlighted the beauty of nature. Students Dhruthi and Harshith presented speeches. A dance performance by students highlighted the need to conserve water and arrest air pollution. Chairman T. Balakrishna urged students to keep their surroundings clean and green. He, along with executive director T. Venkatesh, planted saplings on the school campus.

ACTIVITIES

Students of JSS Public School, HSR Layout, Bengaluru, participated in various activities during World Environment Day celebrations. They presented skits and dances. A tableau highlighting the theme ‘7 billion dreams, one planet, consume with care’ was the highlight.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY

A special assembly was conducted at Jain International Residential School (JIRS), Kanakapura Road, Bengaluru, to mark World Environment Day. Students took a pledge to improve the quality of environment and to create awareness among fellow students on problems faced by nature and the need to conserve water. Students and staff members planted saplings on the campus.

‘LIVE AND LET LIVE’

The World Environment Day celebrations at PSBB Learning Leadership Academy on Bannerghatta Road, Bengaluru, began with students taking a pledge to work towards improving and protecting our environment and spreading the message of the environment, which is to live and let live and to live for others.

Students of class 10 presented a song Another day for you and me in paradise , dedicated to mother nature. A skit presented by class 9 students gave out a message on how to care for nature.

Students also presented a song we will change the world , to inspire and motivate one and all to seek and promote ways of sustainable development. School principal Mahalaxmi Kumar spoke and said, “Development is needed but in a way that would take care of the environment.”

TOPPERS PLANT SAPLINGS

As per the tradition of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Koramangala, Bengaluru, class 10 toppers Siri H.A. of State Board and Khushi B.M. of ICSE planted saplings during the World Environment Day celebrations.

They were then felicitated by school principal Saroja Sridharan. Faculty member Srividya spoke on nature and the need to care for the environment.
