NEW DELHI: An additional affidavit was filed on Monday in Vardhaman Kaushik's application against high air pollution levels in the city. Kaushik's counsel appealed to the bench, headed by NGT chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar, to direct Central Pollution Control Board to set up a complaint portal and telephone number where complaints of waste burning in NCR can be registered. Delhi Pollution Control Committee is running a complaint page on a social networking site but many aren't aware of it.

DPCC has no jurisdiction in parts of NCR like Ghaziabad, Noida, Faridabad, Gurgaon and areas around Sahibabad industrial area where waste burning is an issue. "It is also pertinent to point out that many citizens in the NCR aren't familiar with the said social networking site. Therefore, it is suggested that CPCB set up a redressal portal, and provision to file complaints via text message or an app," the petition stated.

It also asked the bench to clarify who complainants should approach to report waste burning.
