NEW DELHI: Union environment minister Prakash Javadekar held a meeting with his counterparts in the states of Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh on Monday and asked them to prepare a joint report on tackling the problem of rising air pollution.
The meeting on Monday was called at the instance of Delhi environment minister Asim Ahmed Khan who, in a letter to Javadekar last Wednesday, had said that air pollution does not recognize geographical boundaries and all three states would have to formulate a joint action plan to tackle it.
"We spoke about several issues and shared problems being faced by each state. The Union minister has asked us to draft a joint report for which we will be meeting again next week. A short list has been prepared to be discussed at length in next week's meeting," said Khan.
