Climate Change Conference

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An international conference on Climate Change and Disaster Management will be held from February 26 to 28 at Rajiv Gandhi Convention Centre, Hotel Leela, Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram.

The conference will be attended by eminent scientists from leading space organisations within and outside the country. The conference is being jointly organised by the International Academy of Astronauts, International Institute of Space Law, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Indian Space Research Organisation and Kerala State Council of Science, Technology and Environment.

The scientific sessions will cover climate change modelling, legal aspects of data sharing between countries and disaster management. The recommendations which emerge at the conference will later be presented at an IAA Heads of Space Agencies Summit to be held in Mexico on Climate Change and Disaster Management in September this year.

Among those who are expected to participate are Le Gall, president, Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES); Tanja Masson-Zwaan, president, International Institute of Space Law; Mendieta, director, Mexican Space Agency; Berrien Moore, a climate change expert from Oklahoma.
