Yavatmal: Three days after a leopard was found dead in Darwha forest division, another full grown male leopard was found dead in Darwha on Tuesday. Forest officials seem to be groping in dark about the twin blows.

According to chief conservator of forests Vasant Gurme, forest officials found the carcass of a male leopard, about 12 years old, in Hatani village along the Malegaon jungle track.

"We have conducted the postmortem of the animal and the viscera has been sent for the lab test," Gurme said, adding that the veterinary surgeons who conducted the postmortem said that the cause of death might be urinary tract infection. The exact cause of the death of the animal would be known only after the lab test report is received, he added.

The carcass of a 10-year-old leopard was found in a decomposed condition in the jungle near Brahmanath village under Darwha forest division on Sunday. One of the legs of the big cat was also found severed from other parts of the body, giving rise to suspicion of a poaching attempt. The lab test report of this animal is yet to be received.
