State to Host International Meet on Climate Change

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As many as 500 scientists and policy makers, including 200 from abroad, will meet here next February at a global conference where various aspects of tackling climate change and disaster management will be discussed.

The conference to be organised by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment in association with International Academy of Astronautics and the International Institute of Space Law will be held from February 26 in Kovalam, KSCSTE Executive Vice-president V N Rajasekharan Pillai and former chairman of ISRO G Madhavan Nair said here.

The meet will address all aspects of the contribution of space activities to understanding and solving the problems of climate change and disaster management, Nair said and added that this was the first time such a conference was being held in the country.

The conference is a prelude to the next Heads of Space Agencies summit being organised by IAA in Sept 2015 in Mexico.
