BHUBANESWAR: The anti-poaching squad of Satkosia Wildlife Sanctuary nabbed a poacher late on Monday. This is the second time that the authorities caught poachers from the sanctuary area.
He was identified as Raj Behera, 49.
According to official, Behera is a habitual offender. He was nabbed from compartment-II of Tikarpada reserve forest within the sanctuary area. He was earlier arrested twice for poaching activities.
The anti-poaching squad seized a searchlight, a headlight, a gun and six live cartridges, gun powder, gunny bags and a knife from his possesion. "We had laid a trap to catch the poacher. We had intelligence inputs about him entering the sanctuary," said divisional forest officer, Satkosia Wildlife Sanctuary, SMT Rahman.
In September, the squad had seized three rifles from three poachers. They had a sharp shooter in their team.
