Two persons were arrested today by anti-poaching wing of the forest department and a hunting gun and some ammunitions seized from their possession at R S Mangalam forest area in the district, officials said.

Forest Ranger Ganesha Lingam said a five member team of the wing, who were on patrol duty, on a tip off, rushed to the area and arrested J Bhavani (40) and M Gurusamy (52).

They also seized 200 gms of pellets and 100 gm of Sulphur and the vehicle used by them, besides the gun, he said.

Patrolling was stepped up in the area following reports about decline in the arrival of migratory birds due to incriminate hunting.

They were produced before a court which remanded them to judicial custody.
