The temperature fell down drastically from 42 degrees to 26 degrees due to heavy rain that lasted city for one-and-a-half hour on Sunday evening.
At 2pm, the weather turned cloudy and around 4:15pm, it started raining.
LK Dhaliwal, head of the meteorological and climate change school, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), said, "The temperature that came down due to the rain has provided relief not only to the denizens, but also to the animals. There are chances of light showers on Monday during the day, and temperature will vary between 40°C to about 25°C."
City residents also seemed jovial due to the fall in temperature.
A Pakhowal Road resident, Hardeep Kaur, said, "Finally, after many days there is a respite from the hot days. Stepping out became very difficult, especially going to the local markets."
