CHANDRAPUR: A case of poaching of a pregnant blue bull (nilgai) has come to fore in Morva village in Bhadrawati range. The pregnant nilgai was electrocuted on October 7 after it came into contact with a live wire installed on a fence to deter herbivores from damaging the crop. The poachers buried the body in the forest area. But some vigilant people brought the matter to the notice of forest officers on Thursday. Forest officials of Bhadrawati range exhumed the body from the pit in Morva jungle. Veterinary doctor PD Kadukar carried out the postmortem of the animal and its report is expected in couple of days.

Villagers have alleged connivance between the poacher farmer and local forest guard AW Gaikwad to destroy the evidence. Following the complaint an enquiry has been ordered into the case by ACF rank officer.
