Power supply to 5 industries snapped for pollution norms violation

INDORE: Power supply to five industrial units of Sanwer Road Industrial Area was cut off on Monday for flouting pollution norms set up by Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board (MPPCB). The industries, which faced snapping of power supply are Dev Steel Industries, Natraj Industries, SP Metals, Indian Soya Industries Limited and Alfa Steel Industries.

In case of Dev Steel, Natraj Industries, Alfa Steel and SP Metal, the MPPCB recorded violation of air pollution, poor housekeeping norms. In case of Indian Soya Industries Limited, the board found out violation of air, water pollution and poor housekeeping. The board had issued notices to the industrial units on June 27.

SDM Rajnish Kasera told TOI power of the industrial units can be resumed if they follow the guidelines in prescribed time failing which strict action would be taken against the erring units.

MPPCB officials said more stern action would be taken against industries for flouting pollution norms.
