Science Express, a mobile exhibition mounted on a specially-designed 16 coach air-conditioned train carrying exhibits on the unique biodiversity of India, will arrive on platform number 16 at the second entry of Thiruvananthapuram Central station on Monday. Rajesh Agrawal, Divisional Railway Manager, will open the show at 10 am on the day. The train is a joint initiative of the Department of Science and Technology and Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India.
The train, meant to be informative for school children, has eight coaches displaying the diverse biodiversity spread across the bio-geographical zones of India. There are coaches devoted exclusively to climate change, environment, energy conservation, games and puzzles and a hands-on lab for students. For teachers, a discussion-cum-training centre is also arranged. Training sessions for teachers and group activities for school children will be provided if they register as a group of 25 in advance.
