City to host international conference on ecology from Oct 3

The Department of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries of Kerala University, in association with the State Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, will organise the second edition of the international conference on ‘Eco-system conservation and sustainable development’ (ECOCASD) from October 3 to 5 in the capital.

The event is co-organised by Ambo University, Ethiopia, which hosted the first edition of the conference, said an official release here. The focal theme of the event is ‘Climate change, sustainability of aquatic ecosystems and food security.’ The science sessions include presentations based on 15 themes related to sustainable natural resource management, biodiversity, sustainable fisheries, responsible tourism, IT and ecosystem management and related subjects.

Acclaimed marine biologist Prof Daniel Pauly of University of British Columbia, Canada, will deliver the keynote address on ‘Marine fisheries conservation in the context of climate change.’

Researchers, teachers and students interested in presenting scientific papers can submit abstracts having not more than 1,000 words so as to reach on or before August 15.
