NAGPUR: Even as the forest department is grappling with tiger poaching probe, bail application of seven poachers will come up for hearing on Wednesday at the court of judicial magistrate first class RB Raja.

Accused Nirafal, his wife Minar and son Srival, besides Lupustan, Ujiyaar and Arjun, who were arrested in August from Baner in Pune had applied for bail last month through their counsel.

All the accused are directly involved in poaching of a tiger and a sloth bear in Masondi in Ghatang forest range in East Melghat division in May. The accused are lodged in jail.

The accused had also created scenes in the court of Raja earlier. They have already confessed to killing a tiger and a bear. Minar was the one who transported the tiger skin to Amdi Fata near Ramtek from where Sarju Bagdi, a tiger skin trader who was arrested from Delhi in September, smuggled five tiger skins.
