The event on Sunday also saw the launch of ‘My Doctors’ Directory’, a comprehensive booklet providing list of doctors, specialists and hospitals in and around the city.

Speaking at the function, K Rosaiah, Governor of Tamil Nadu, expressed concerns over the effect climate change has on the livelihood of the people. He said it was high time people lead a eco-friendly life and preserve and pass the richness of the nature and its resources to the future generations.

“Preserving and conserving a healthy environment is necessary. Implementation of environment friendly projects and living in harmony with the nature should be taken as our prime agenda,” he said.

Advising people stay away from foods that affects the body, Prof D Shantharam, Vice Chancellor, The Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University said non-communicable diseases was increasing in a rapid rate due to change in lifestyle among the population in our country.

He appreciated the efforts taken to compile the doctors’ directory and added that it would be of immense use for people who look for world class healthcare facility at an affordable rate in the city.

Dr N Ramachandran, Vice Chancellor, Periyar Maniammai University, Thanjavur emphasised that integration was the need of the hour to create a possibility of a win-win situation. He appreciated the efforts put in by the organisers to bring both lifestyle and healthcare on the same platform.

While the Mayan awards were presented to 25 professionals in healthcare and construction industry with an aim to recognise their services, the directory was launched to guide people looking for specialised medical treatments in the city considered to be the healthcare hub in the country.

Dr P Saravanan, Founder, Saravana Mutlispeciality Hospitals, Madurai and B Bhavana, Founder, Vista India were also present at the event.
