After confirmation of one tiger poaching at Ghatang in Melghat, the arrest of notorious poacher Ajit at Hyderabad by Wildlife Crime Control Bureau sleuths and the Andhra Pradesh Police last week has brought to the fore another poaching incident from another part of the state, sources told The Indian Express.

Ajit has been brought to Nagpur on transit remand by Maharashtra forest department officials investigating into the case of five tiger skins allegedly traded near the city by poachers. Ajit and his brother Keru had sold two skins to Surajbhan alias Sarju, who was arrested by the Delhi Police last month and was later brought here for investigation.

A senior forest officer said: "Ajit has spoken about a tiger he killed at some place other than Ghatang. The investigators will now take him to the spot to confirm."

Sarju has told the investigators that two of the five skins he purchased near Ramtek were provided by Ajit and Keru. Ajit will be produced before a court on Thursday.
