Reliance Power's 100 MW concentrated solar power project in Rajasthan has received approval for carbon credits under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

This is the world largest CSP project to be registered with the Clean Development Mechanism Executive Board, Reliance Power has said in a filing to the BSE. The CDM registration will allow the project to generate and sell certified emission reductions internationally, and generate direct revenues for the company.

The present registration, in addition to that for earlier projects gives Reliance Power a CDM registered capacity of over 12,000 MW with a potential to 60 million carbon credits in the next 10 years, the company has said.

The compact linear fresnel linear technology based project, located in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan is being implemented by Rajasthan Sun Technique Energy Pvt Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary. The company has entered into a 25-year power purchase agreement with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Ltd.
