NAGPUR: Even as forest officials are grappling with the probe into the tiger poaching incidents in the region, a team from Madhya Pradesh is reaching Nagpur to quiz the accused.

According to sources, AK Baronia, divisional forest officer dealing with court cases in Jabalpur, is reaching Nagpur on Wednesday. Baronia was directed to visit Nagpur on the orders of MP PCCF. The team will interrogate the poachers who have confessed that their gang members killed tigers in MP too.

The five accused arrested in the poaching of a tiger in Melghat will be produced before a local court on Wednesday. Forest officials may seek extension of custody of the accused.

Officials from Melghat brought the fifth accused Madhu, who was nabbed from Masondi in Ghatang range, to Nagpur on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, rattled by the poaching of tigers, forest officials have called an urgent meeting of regional tiger cell on June 27. The officials and NGOs will discuss the latest developments in the poaching episode.
