Experts discuss methods to safeguard environment

VADODARA: To celebrate World Environment Day, the Indian Association for Air Pollution Control (IAAPC), the Baroda chapter of Indian Science Congress, India Water Works Association, Central Pollution Control Board's west zone, Indian Environmental Association and M S University's Faculty of Science had organized a seminar at professor C C Mehta auditorium on Sunday.

During the seminar, Padma Shri professor M H Mehta narrated the story of mother earth to stress on the need to protect its fertility and conserve the purity of water.

Mehta explained the importance of Vishwamitri river and its fate for future.

If deputy municipal commissioner of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation R K Sugoor urged citizens to report to the civic body if they find anybody doing unethical food related business so that the VMC can take necessary action, principal chief conservator of forest S D Vora thanked MSU for carrying out numerous studies about biodiversity of Sardar Sarovar and Narmada river.

The seminar that witnessed participation of MSU's former pro vice-chancellor professor S D Sabnis, city's senior physician Dr Chaitanya Buch, dean of Faculty of Science professor A C Sharma, plant manager of General Motors India Sanjeev Singh, was well attended.

Meanwhile, head of MSU's Department of Botany professor Arun Arya has been elected as new president of IAAPC and the selected new team will work for the next two years.
