In an attempt to improve the surveillance in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve portion falling under Tirupur district limits, the anti-poaching watchers were given powerful torches and footwear for all-weather conditions recently.
M. Dhanaraj, Deputy Conservator of Forests and District Forest Officer, said 25 anti-poaching watchers got the said gadgets. Forest officials added that light from the torches distributed would be able to penetrate almost a kilometre and hence, would be able to protect wild life in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve from hunters in the night hours.
