Science Express to be in state from May 11-20

LUCKNOW: Science Express - Biodiversity Special, a collaborative initiative of the department of science and technology and Union ministry of environment and forest, and coordinated by Vikram A Sarabhai Community Science Centre will be in Uttar Pradesh from May 11 to 20.

Giving information, Dilip Surkar, executive director, Science Express, said, "The train will start its stay in UP from Bareilly and would be stationed at Bareilly railway station from May 11 to 13, followed by its halt in Azamgarh from May 15-16, and finally in Mughalsarai from May 17 to 20. After this, the train will proceed to Bhagalpur and Katihar. The train will be open for public from 10am to 5pm and would be stationed at the respective railway stations."

With more than 88 lakh visitors at its 278 halts since its launch in October 2007, Science Express is now the largest, longest and most visited mobile science exhibition in India. In its current phase from April 9 to October 28, Science Express will travel to 62 locations across India.

The exhibition onboard Science Express aims to create awareness about the biodiversity of India, climate change and similar issues among students, teachers and general public. The train has been contributing in enhancing the scientific temper among people of all age groups in cities as well as less developed towns.
