A meeting will be held next week to decide on the staff and other equipments required. The decision follows the Monday incident where the forest officials nabbed two persons from Ramgarh village during patrolling. The two arrested - Kadar Khamasa and Valli Mohammed - both residents of Jambu village in Limbdi taluka of Surendranaga, were into the illegal trade of the winged visitors.

The officials said that a meeting was held soon after the incident and it was decided to prepare an action plan to curb poaching. The Nalsarovar team was also told to explore the possibilities of the use of modern gadgets for patrolling. It was also decided that Typha grass which grows on the banks will be cut on regular basis.

The lake is known for its floral species which include Typha Angustata, (Gha-bajariyu) Bakheda, Gondaro, Dilo, Chigo, Thek, Kando among others. The officials said a search operation was carried out for four hours in the Ranagrah village by the department. They found that there was eight feet tall Typha grass which was used for hiding during poaching.

Principal chief conservator of forest (wildlife) C N Pandey said that the incident had been an eye-opener for the department. "A high-level meeting is scheduled later this month and we have assured the department that all necessary action will be taken. We will also have additional staff deployed to prevent such incidents," he said.
