AS MANY as 44 leopard skins were seized from Majnu ka Tila in North Delhi on Wednesday ."We have made a seizure, but are still confirming several things. We will make a formal announcement on Thursday," said DCP (North) Anurag Kumar.

Belinda Wright, executive director of the Wildlife Protection Society of India, said 44 leopard skins had been seized. Three people have been arrested in this connection. According to police sources, 12 otter skins were seized during the operation.

Police suspect that the arrested people may have links with the Sansarchand Gang, which is accused of poaching tigers in wildlife sanctuaries in Rajasthan. They also suspect that the skins may have been procured from the Terai region.

This marks one of the biggest seizures in recent times in the city;
