GUWAHATI: A poacher, identified as Abdul Rashid, got injured in a cross-firing between forest guards and a group of three poachers in the Bejimari camp of Orang National Park on Tuesday.

Abdul, along with others, succeeded to flee the spot. "Abdul was arrested in 2010 in connection with a poaching case and was on bail. He has again into poaching and is now absconding," said a forest official.

According to forest guards, the poachers had rifles with them and fired at the guards when they were asked to stop. In retaliation, the forest guards, too, fired.
