Beware! The tiger is here!

Tigers have fascinated Aishwarya Ramachandran since childhood. And that's probably why she has chosen to portray them in her latest series, titled Regal Stripes.

"For the last couple of years, ever since I decided to pursue art full time, tigers have been a prime inspiration. Their eyes, in particular, draw my attention to them every single time," says Aishwarya, who has trained under senior artist A V Ilango, "Being someone who loves the animal in particular and with the whole poaching scenario in the country making headlines, I decided to make use of my artistic talent to create awareness in a different way."

With Regal Stripes, she hopes that people — apart from admiring the beauty in the works — will take home a message. "My works are all realistic. I'd like to show everyone what a magnificent animal the tiger is and also contribute towards spreading the message about the dwindling tiger population," she explains.

It took her about four months to complete her current series. Ask Aishwarya about the research that went into it, and she says, "It was mostly about putting together the kind of images I wanted to paint. The long hours with the tigers made me stare at stripes in the air as well!"

Check out her works at Focus Art Gallery, Bishop Wallers Avenue (South), CIT Colony, Alwarpet, from tomorrow till April 10, between 10 am and 7 pm
